The residency takes place in a dedicated creative space designed to feel both professional and comfortable.
You’ll be writing in an environment that includes:
- A stage-based setup
- A focused, distraction-free creative space
- Access to Montana’s natural landscape as part of the experience
Lodging is not covered, but arranged nearby to keep the experience stress-free, simple and seamless.

Investment
Early Application Consideration:
Applicants who apply by May 15 will be considered for a limited number of reduced-rate placements at $1,095, offered to selected participants as part of the initial cohort.

This residency is designed to be fully supported—from creative structure to daily logistics—so your time and attention remain on your work.
This includes:
- All residency sessions and programming
- A curated, small-group writing environment
- Guided discussions and feedback
- Meals and beverages throughout the residency
- Transportation to and from the airport, lodging, excursions, and workshop space
- A guided creative immersion in Red Lodge and the Beartooth Pass, designed to create distance from routine and open new creative perspective
A deposit is required to reserve your place, with the remaining balance due prior to the residency.
Application Process
Applications are open from April 23 through May 31 as we curate a small group of writers for August.
We keep the group intentionally small (8 songwriters) to support a focused, high-caliber creative environment.
Applications are reviewed based on:
- Clarity and strength of artistic voice
- Ongoing commitment to songwriting as a practice
- Ability to contribute to and benefit from a collaborative peer group
This residency is designed for writers who are already actively writing and are ready to refine and elevate their work.
